Ruscombe's Ponds, Castle End Road Pond ~ Willow pollarding

It was two years since we last cut the willow around this particular pond which on our arrival was almost completely hidden from view.

The dry summer meant the water level was significantly less than in 2017 and far lower than it had been in the spring of this year when we originally considered attempting this task.

The adjacent road required constant vigilance.

Cutting the willow allows light into the pond and helps prevent a build up of leaf litter.
