Gorse clearance - The Fairground, Mortimer - Wednesday, 10th December 2008

This was our first visit to Mortimer. Unlike Padworth Common where the gorse is an impenetrable wall of thorns about 6 feet in height, clearance from the Fairground was more like coppicing, the gorse being some 8 feet tall, bare at the base with stems up to 3 inches in diameter.
