On a number of occasions, Econet has held a Winter Sale to raise funds for the group, the last being in December 2004.
One of the most popular items were Scots pine sold for Christmas trees. The trees were gathered locally from heathland where they otherwise would have been cleared and burnt. As well as their local provenance, they also had the advantage for the consumer of not having been treated with pesticides and growth retardants unlike their commercial counterparts.
The pictures below show CROW collecting Scots pine at Bucklebury Common on 10th December 2003.
